Memphis Music/ Hocus Pocus rose

For my first real blog post, I thought I might as well start out with something special. When I first started growing roses a couple years ago, I never knew that there was more to roses than what had met the eye. There are thousands upon thousands of different rose breeds, all with different names and breeder names as well. The one I am showing you all today is a little rare, it is know as the Memphis Music/ Hocus Pocus rose, which hails from Germany and comes from a long breed of roses known as Kordes. The reason I put two names down for this rose is because it is still being debated whether or not these two roses are identical or not. I heard news on the wind from Dave Bang that the grower Whit Wells did not breed the Memphis Music rose, but actually took a small cuttings from the Hocus Pocus rose and out of all the cuttings he took, one or two showed the characteristics of a miniflora (small plant/small flowers) which is a little different compared to the Hocus Pocus. This he then proceeded to grow these tiny versions of Hocus Pocus and had them named Memphis Music under his name along with a patent as well. I do support this theory because you can't germinate Hocus Pocus seeds to get a Memphis Music. Hocus Pocus and many other striped Kordes rose have no reproductive organs. They are completely sterile. But enough about the history of the Kordes roses... Here are the pics which are just a couple of my favorite pics of my roses! Please enjoy!!!
-The last picture at the bottom, is from a local store bought rose boquet. It think my roses look pretty close? Don't you think so too?

A little about myself

I am currently living in Las Vegas, Nv. I am 19 years old and I attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas. So far, I am aspiring to become a neurosurgeon. Currently, I am enrolled as pre-med. and will most-likely be in medical school within the next 3-4 years. Aside from the formal standpoint of myself, I also love and enjoy plants and growing them as well. I have always been fascinated with nature since I was a little boy. I started growing bonsai trees around the age of 10-11, and was recently introduced to world of orchids and roses only a few short years ago. I grow almost anything from the strange and beautiful to the rare and satisfying. On top of growing plants, i also enjoy the life and culture of the Japanese, such as bonsai, anime, their lifestyles and tradition. I also multi-talented with an eye for mastering everything. I even know how to play the violin, which is just an added bonus... So i hope this gives you an idea or what i will be posting in my blog and my videos on YouTube. I hope you will follow me to share the experiences that i hope to share with every one of you. Thank you!
